What cake decorating business has taught me so far.


- Jadi lebih friendly. Lagi pandai nak senyum and borak-borak with people even outside my business world.

- Google is my bestfriend. Research research research.

- Kalau orang order through Mama, memang tak boleh say 'no'. Kena accept juga.

- The combination of colours. I love only black and red. More to black. Tapi bila buat business ni, I'm seeing pink almost 90% of the time.
Baru tau kewujudan colour teal, aqua, coral, fuschia, magenta, dan lain-lain. Selama ni only tau basic colours je.

- Sometimes fame is more important than talent.

- Even if you're doing most of the work, start business ni dari bawah sampai la dah naik sikit, Mama is still the boss.

- Siblings are the worst critics.

- People don't go by the rules.

- Lain orang, lain the definition of beauty. Buat penat-penat and rasa cantik tapi direct je orang lain cakap tak cantik. Vice versa.

Apple Crumble

I really need to masuk kelas photography. Sijil je will do. Ada tak anyone yang boleh ajar untuk tangkap gambar food je. Need the tips and tricks. If I can find the time. Sigh.

 

 

Ni tengah fikir nak letak apple crumble ni dalam menu Sugar & Vanilla ke tak. Hmm should I? 

Happy Things

It's friday...?? Wow. Just had the most hectic and stressful week. Esok sambung balik itu hectic. Rasa macam hari ini baru hari Selasa.


Nevermind. Now nak buat entry sweet-sweet pula. Read someone's blog about 10 random things that made her happy. Now nak buat my version. But just untuk random things that made me happy lately.

-If lepas solat Subuh, tak rasa mengantuk langsung. Sangat happy sebab nanti tenang aje buat kerja.

-Picnic Cadbury chocolate. Lately asyik mencari tu je.

-Boyfriend memberi kata-kata semangat.

-Seeing pictures of my nephews and nieces. Tapi cousins punya anak-anak as I don't have yet anak sedara dari adik-beradik. Soon, InsyaAllah. I love kids.

-Seeing my kakak ipar's tummy. Can't wait to see you, baby.

-Dapat meniarap atas katil sambil meghadap laptop (macam sekarang ni).

-Bilik kemas.

-Makan kat luar and dapat order teh tarik sebab dah tak sanggup dah minum teh tarik 3 in 1. Kurang sedap.

-Bila orang puji cake, cookies sedap and cantik. Tapi ni bukan la lately je. All the time pun memang akan happy.

Just 3 Days

What I've learnt so far for this week. Yes I know baru hari selasa. Tapi rasa huru-hara sangat since Ahad.

1. Even if that someone is famous, you should never trust that person.

2. Payment in advance adalah sangat penting. This is continuous dari yang atas.

3. Tak semua orang niat tak baik. Mungkin dia pun tengah serabut juga. Always fikir positif.

4. This body memang tak boleh nak clone banyak-banyak untuk accept orders yang sangat banyak.

5. People that may seem very professional can be very unprofessional.

6. Don't get too excited about one thing.

7. Kena berani bersuara untuk benda yang benar.  

8. Baru sedar belum belajar buat moist chocolate cake dari Mama. Habis tu kalau Mama tak ada kat rumah, and ada orang nak order macam mana.

9. Now I know the difference between an organizer and to-do list. Organizer is just nak tunjuk jadual dah penuh atau tak. To-do list adalah list yang sangat detail untuk tampal kat peti sejuk. (This may be my own definition)

10. Kalau nak kurus tak makan nasi langsung, tapi tiap-tiap hari minum teh tarik = tak ada guna juga.





Next time, akan buat 10 things that makes me happy. Yang ni sebab tengah serabut sementara.

Balance

In life, you may not get everything that you want.

Keep on telling myself masing-masing ada kelebihan and kekurangan.

But still sometimes terlupa and marah bila tak dapat something.






What he texted me after I was feeling so down yesterday.

"Everyone has their own special moment. Not everyone's the same. Sometimes we don't always get what we want. Different people, different way. It's normal that we want everything in life, but there's no need to be sad when we couldn't get it. Maybe you didn't notice but you have advantages that other people didn't have. I know you worked hard when you were studying. That's why you are where you are today. That's what you should be proud of. And I know you can go far."

Ayat tidak sebiji. Telah di edit oleh saya. Tapi maksud sama.


He always knows the right thing to say bila emotional saya terganggu. Terima kasih boyfriend.

Ini tak termasuk short courses. I really took a lot of short courses for my drawings, architecture and cake decorating.

Just to remind myself that I can't stick to one place. Masa kecik-kecik sebab terpaksa ikut mana Abah kerja. Dah besar pindah-pindah sebab boring. Nanti kalau buka kedai sendiri ??? Perangaaaai.

Change

In 2011, I stared to labuhkan tudung. Longgarkan and labuhkan baju.


Funny thing is, it’s not because of I dengar ceramah, or something happen yang membuatkan diri ni insaf. Or sebab Mama suruh. No. Not because of all that.


But sebab terbaca ada this one blog. A guy’s blog. He wrote something like this “Lelaki bukannya tergoda dengan rambut wanita. Jadi tidak kira kalau wanita itu memakai tudung ataupun tidak, tetapi kalau baju yang dipakainya ketat yang menampakkan tubuh badan lagi-lagi di bahagian dada dan juga punggung, maka itu yang lelaki akan pandang.”       


Kind of harsh but true. Kan?



So I didn’t do it because I know it was wrong. To pakai baju ketat-ketat and all. But I changed sebab terbaca blog orang. I mean, I know it was wrong all along, but just didn’t seem to care enough to change.


But of course now I fully understand that tutup aurat dengan cara yang betul sebab and untuk Allah SWT. Cuma that time terbaca blog yang tulis macam tu and it suddenly made me sedar how a man pandang a woman.


Tapi that doesn’t mean I support those yang tegur-tegur dengan cara kasar or perli at orang yang tak tutup aurat. Nak tegur memang ada caranya. Still a good ceramah or say it nicely, InsyaAllah will change a person.


And I know, I'm not that perfect yet either. But I'm slowly changing to cover fully.

Baking Beauties

Now at MAC, Baking Beauties collection...!!! Sanggup haritu paksa Mama pergi shopping semata-mata nak beli ni sebab takut sold out. But I think ni tak segempak Archie's Girls collection sebab packaging Baking ni biasa je. 

I'm a cake decorator who loves pakai make up. So tak payah la nak explain panjang-panjang kenapa I wanted this so badly.

In for a treat.

Pearlmatte face powder.

This is for highlighting. Tak try lagi. Baru try kat kedai MAC je but I love it.

At first I wanted to buy the other color, Pink buttercream.

Just because I decorate with buttercream a lot.

Tapi tak sesuai with my skin color.

Eclair.

Paint pot.

Eye shadow yang sangat awesome. Loving the color sangat-sangat.

So easy to wear. Just wear this one color is enough. No need to add on color lain.

Rindu buat choux pastry. Cream puff and eclair. Asyik busy je.

So I just bought those two. Plan konon nak beli banyak-banyak macam ada all the money in the world. Tapi sudahnya rasa is not that necessary pun. I'm not a make up artist pun. 

The best part is, today I just found out that all the cakes with the MAC model dalam gambar kat atas sekali tu was designed by Peggy Porschen, a cake designer that I really admire. I have her books ok. Background make up yang I tangkap gambar tu is her book that I bought few years ago. Her creations are just amazing.

Layers of Cakes

Gambar ini telah di capture Khamis yang lepas. Had to make 3 decorated cakes. Dua 1-tier. Satu 2-tier.

All 14 layers (semangat kira). Just for 3 cakes. Imagine the cakes keluar masuk two ovens.

So I know some bakers, bake the cake as a whole and then for layering tu potong sendiri. Because that was how I learnt dulu pun.

But I just find it easier kalau bake the cake as sheet cakes. Terpulang ikut kesesuaian masing-masing.

Maybe because I don't have the confident to slice nipis-nipis. So I prefer this way. Memang keluar masuk oven pun banyak kali.

And plus, I think that if slice nipis sangat, then banyak cream nak kena letak, when people prefer to taste more of the cake than the cream.

Archie's Girls

I'm a big fan of Archie's comic. Started reading and collecting since I was 10. Tapi time sekolah menengah stop baca kejap because of financially tak mampu. Huhu. Bila dah make my own money start kumpul and baca balik. But I think start last year dah slow sikit. Once in a while je beli.

So in March, MAC launched The Archie's Girls makeup. Oh memang la menjerit keriangan.

I love makeup. I love Archie. The combination means 'must buy'.

I bought. Sampai 4 things. Went with my cousin and we both just went crazy.

Semangat lepas tu beli Archie comic to take picture while lunch. Heeee.

Here's what I bought.

Betty's make up.

Caramel Sundae Eye shadow.

Loving the colors..!! Light colors. Very nice if tak nak pakai heavy makeup.

Designer Purple Eye liner.

My god..!! Serious ni menyesal beli. Looks weird bila pakai. 

Pandai the sales girl cucuk suruh beli. 

Veronica's make up.

Opulash Mascara.

Not bad. Untuk panjang kan.

Petrol Blue Eye liner.

Very dark blue with glitters. Ok la.

Sometimes I wear with brown eye liner so that tak nampak obvious. But not as bad as the purple one.

Menyesal tak beli lip gloss or lipstick.

Since I'm a vaseline type of person, so I decided tak nak beli masa tu.

Balik rumah baru menyesal. Nevermind.

To prove I'm a big fan of Archie's comic. 

Got a full box of that. I think 100 books ada kot.

Yang kat atas tu pun the small frame with their pictures tu pun sanggup beli juga dulu. 

Now MAC tengah jual Baking Beauties collection. Tak pergi tengok lagi. I'm sure spend money lagi. Haihh. What to do, I'm a cake decorator yang suka make up. 

Sushi

Sushi kegemaran ku.

Kalau boleh makan tiap-tiap minggu kan best. But what to do, mahal..!

Salmon salmon salmon. Wuuu I love salmon so much.

Actually selalu I can eat more than gambar kat atas ni. Tapi entah kenapa that day rasa macam nak simpan perut untuk dessert after that.

Ebi - udang

Salmon - yang panjang-panjang tu. Selalu yang ni order two plates. Ikut mood.

Salmon Hana Sushi - yang ada tiga biji atas ada mayo crab.

Salmon Nishoku - kecik dua comel tu atas ada mayo. Yang ni pun selalu order two plates.

Oh ni dekat Sushi King.

Plans

"Life doesn't go according to plan is interesting."

Try to think that everything happens for a reason. For sure akan ada reason. Kalau tak ada, maybe the reason is still somewhere in the future. We can only plan, but Allah knows better. Memang I truly believe in that.

Kalau cita-cita masa kecik nak jadi architect tapi sudahnya jadi cake decorator, ada la reason nya.
Kalau sekarang life asyik serabut, ada la reason nya.
Kalau tak ada ramai kawan, ada la reason nya.

The most important part, jangan stop bersyukur. Remember what you have.

Just don't give up on life. Don't give up in being a better person.




The reasons are very interesting.
